I woke up this morning and the first thing I told my "still asleep" wife was, Feliz Dia Internacional de Jazz !!! I truly felt that and smiled at her ... and that was just 7am. All that jazz lasted a good 90 seconds before I got tossed with pillows and the serious "no jodas mas" comment, ven a dormir.
I want to pay tribute to Ecuador's native jazz players, I want to showcase and cheer for the homegrown talent !! I'm sure they're hiding in plain sight and not getting their proper recognition. I YouTubed "Ecuadorian jazz " and mustered only 7 names to showcase. Mind you, somewhere between East Pacific Coast to West Amazonian Basin, from North Andes to Southern Lojanos, Ecuador has musical talent hiding somewhere. Thank you YouTube !!! for helping me find something to blog about. And let me tell you mijohs reading my stuff - there is jazz talent here for sure.
Today is UNESCO designated as a FACT -
International Jazz Day 4/30/17 and it's being hosted in Havana, Cuba for the first time ever. How cool is that ? Ecuador having a UNESCO Heritage city would be most proud to represent in today's event. It's global people !!! everyone is looking, listening and the vibe is being felt, like it or not. Ecuador has talent, and below I list a sample of each. This Andean nation can rise above it's elevation and touch someone else on the opposite side of the equator. The Cuenca Jazz Society has a presence as well as Quito and Guayaquil. It's our day and below I give you a sample with Youtube links of what Ecuador has been hiding. Get involved and support your jazz community and share the good will globally
